Zverev vs. Fils Match Breakdown:

Arthur Fils defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(1)

First Set: Fils started strong, capitalizing on a slow start by Zverev. He broke the German’s serve in the first game and dominated the set, winning 6-3.

Second Set: Zverev fought back in the second set. He finally broke Fils’ serve after eight attempts, taking a 4-2 lead. Zverev maintained control and secured the set 6-3, forcing a decider.

Third Set: The final set was a tense battle. Both players held serve until the very end. Fils saved an impressive 21 of 22 break points throughout the match, including five in the final set itself. Despite experiencing cramps, Fils emerged victorious in a dominant tie-break (7-1).

Fils just won his first ATP500

Arthur Fils was a true warrior in this game, he saved 21 of 22 break points, he was booed by the public several times, he spent 4 games without receiving water, he can go far if he continues with this warrior mentality.

This is a personal opinion: Zverev doesn’t have respect for himself and therefore doesn’t respect other people when he should. I’m not comparing Arthur Fils with Federer, Nadal, Novak or Alcaraz but Zverev wouldn’t dare cover them with champagne after losing a final.

What makes him think it’s ok to do that to Arthur Fils? Alexander Zverev is 27 years old; Carlos Alcaraz is 21 is and acts and plays like a Champion.

I very well may be wrong, but I don’t see a great future for Zverev. He may be No 4 in the world but he is a very long way from greatness. Look at all the greats who have gone before him.

Zverev just doesn’t have the aggression that’s required to win at this level. He plays matches like he’s in practice mod.
